Advanced Fieldwork Portfolio

The aim of this module is to prepare learners to meet the requirements necessary in the preparation of a fieldwork portfolio in community development and youth work which allows them to demonstrate and reflect on their professional formation over the duration of their fieldwork. Learners will be introduced to a range of tools and reflective practices to support them in producing a fieldwork portfolio. Learners will develop and compile their portfolio on an ongoing basis over the duration of their fieldwork placement. The module will focus on the role of reflective journals in supporting reflective practice and learning. Learners will be supported to critically reflect on the integration of knowledge and skills while doing their fieldwork and the development of a value based professional practice.

Compiling a Fieldwork Portfolio

- Outline of the Portfolio (Sections, Content, Style, Samples) - Gathering Information about the Organisation - Gathering data about the community and issues with which the organisation works. - Thinking, planning , doing and reflecting on my own role and tasks allocated to me as a fieldwork student.

Tools to assist the Reflective Practitioner Process

Applying Theory to Practice

- Application of professional standards / values in the fieldwork setting. - Identifying relevant theory and policy to the community development and youth work setting. - The theory to practice continuum - Critical thinking in fieldwork practice
