Student Project 1- Sports Science & Health

All students must complete a substantial capstone project as partial fulfilment of their BSc (Hons) degree studies. The BSc (Hons) Sports Science & Health project will be structured into two modules, one in each semester. These modules will be assessed at the end of each semester. The aim of this module project 1 is to provide the student with the opportunity to demonstrate a significant element of self-motivation and creativity in terms of the research and design of their given/chosen area of study (in the Sports Science and health field).

Literature Review:

Each student will be required to conduct an in-depth study of a particular thematic area of 'Sports Science & Health'. The student will be required to prepare a written 'Literature Review' which must be completed and presented by the end of the semester. The review must include: An in-depth analysis of the history and current status of the particular topic, including full bibliography.

Project Plan / Experimental Design:

Each student will be required to prepare a detailed experimental strategy (Project Plan / Experimental Deisgn) for the completion of their given experimental project. The project plan / experimental design must include - a brief introduction to the thematic area, method selection, data analysis, time and resource management. Students must also identify the materials/consumables/resources required and their costs/sourcing, equipment (including the approximate frequency & timing within the project)(“Resource Assessment”).The students must draft a research proposal apply for and receive ethical approval for the project from the relevent authority

Experimental Design Poster Presentation:

Students are required to prepare, present and defend poster presentation based on their 'experimental design'.

Supervisor Liasion:

Activity will involve liaison with an identified project supervisor (1 hour per week), during the independent learning research and preparation of the literature and project plan/experimental design.
