The Software Project aims to equip the student with the skills necessary to research, develop andtroubleshoot a basic embedded or software system. The concepts of project planning, managing andreporting are further developed. The student will have responsibility for delivery ofa tested working system.
Software design and development:
Software design and development of software on a computer and/or embedded system. Use of datasheets and user/development guides. Use of software design tools and integrated development environments.
Testing, troubleshooting and verification techniques:
Software testing and troubleshooting techniques. Safe operation of any required equipment. Final system testing for design verification.
Communications:
Maintenance of log book with weekly entries. Maintaining the project plan, identification of critical paths.Technical report writing guidelines. How to write a simple user guide.
