This module is designed to equip learners with the knowledge, skills and competence to identify major sources of research based evidence for a culinary related research topic of their choice, locating accessing, appraising and synthesising the relevant literature and presenting main findings and conclusion.

Definition, range and levels of authority of literature( academic and journalistic), reliabity and quality,uses and limitations of different sources of information, electronic journals

Research Planning

Preparing a time-frame, deciding on a research topic, developing a research statement/proposal, formulation of hypothesis, using tutors and support

Literature review

Structuring the literature review,techniques and strategies for search engine optimisation, critical analysis of the literature, synthesising the findings

Writing

Structure, layout and format of the study, writing , revising and editing, graphics and charts, principles of academic integrity, in-text referencing and citations, bibliography

Student led research culinary research.
