Module Overview

Building Performance: Introduction

The Building Performance: Introduction module introduces the learner to the theories, principles and application of building performance, emphasising the importance of achieving an integrated approach to the incorporation of environmental design and building services in building design.

The module introduces the learner to the principles of sustainable design and building performance and the relationship between man, climate, landscape (rural and urban) and the built environment. It also introduces the learner to passive design strategies, to enable investigation of the environmental impact of their technical design proposals.  It also considers the use of traditional, innovative and sustainable building materials within holistic building performance solutions.

The module introduces the learner to the principles of building services in domestic construction and their application and integration to domestic buildings.
