Course Title: Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computing in Digital Forensics and Cyber Security

Bachelor of Science in Digital Forensics and Cyber Security (NFQ Level 7) or equivalent qualification.

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computing in Digital Forensics & Cyber Security is a one-year part-time add-on NFQ Level 8 degree covering such topics as mobile device forensics, application security, network security analytics, biometrics, business continuity management & cloud security.

The successful graduates from this course have the knowledge and skills to begin work in any type of business that has Cyber Security needs. Former graduates from this course are now working in a wide range of industries from ICT to Financial Institutions to Manufacturing as well as the top International companies in Ireland.

IT Requirements: A MEDIUM spec (i.e. able to run Win 10, an AV solution and Office comfortably. Be able to use Wi-fi and camera to attend online classes, use other software such as SPSS, Adobe Connect, Minitab, Maple, so needs more RAM, SSD, etc.)

Graduates from the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computing in Digital Forensics & Cyber Security are valued professional for employers in Ireland for both Irish SMEs and International corporations.

Graduates are schooled in the latest technologies in IT security and this has made them very attractive for employment as they can readily apply their knowledge in securing corporations against the current onslaught from cyber criminals and cyber hackers.

This degree also covers business continuity management and cloud security, two job areas in high demand at the moment.

  • Mobile Device Forensics: Forensics of mobile smart devices like phones and ipads
  • Application Security: Protecting and hacking applications on systems
  • Network Security Analytics: Data analysis technics applied to network traffic to detect intrusion
  • Biometrics and Forensics Applications: Theory and practice of using biometric devices for access/identification technologies
  • Business Continuity Management & Cloud Security: Risk identification and management theory and practice
  • Individual Project: Application of knowledge gained from course to develop an independent project

  • Thursday 6.00pm - 10.00pm

Programme is predominantly online. Some visits to campus for assessments and workshops may be required.
