Care-experienced Network Meeting Hosted by TU Dublin
The first care-experienced network meeting hosted by TU Dublin
TU Dublin hosted the first care-experienced network meeting on 25th March, an initiative that emerged from ‘Students with Care Experience & Higher Education: “Progression in life despite my circumstances’, research conducted by SOAR and TU Dublin. One of the recommendations emerging was that ‘a network of relevant professionals be developed to create the Golden Triad of Support for care-experienced students, including after-care workers, Access Practitioners, peers, foster carers, residential staff, social workers, social care and advocacy workers.’
The meeting was attended by 35 people and representatives from HEIs, Orchard Fostering, TUSLA, Kinship Care Ireland and EPIC attended. The discussion focused on purpose and priorities, resources required and future actions. The next meeting is scheduled to take place in University of Galway in June.
Both the research and the network meeting were collaborations between TU Dublin’s Access and Outreach and SOAR in UCC.
