Maths Competency Test, 2-4 September 2024

Published: 14 Aug, 2024

Maths can be one of the most challenging subjects for students taking the Leaving Certificate, with approximately 10% of students typically failing to earn any points each year.

But if you're applying for TU Dublin's General Entry Engineering course (TU805) and didn't achieve the H4 in Higher Level Mathematics required, you have a second chance to attain a higher grade with the University's Maths Competency Test (MCT).

The MCT, which is free to sit, has a standard similar to the Leaving Certificate Honours Mathematics examination. The university offers two days of tutorials before the exam, and students who pass will have met the minimum entry requirement for the Leaving Certificate Higher Level Mathematics.
