Students will learn and apply a range of architectural representation techniques and will use these techniques to develop an understanding of structural, construction and environmental strategies in precedent and studio design projects. Through drawing and modelled analysis of a structural precedent project, students will identify structural concepts, and understand their impact on architectural design.
Students will conduct site and environmental analysis and will learn how to analyse daylight and sunlight and use this as a tool for preliminary sketch design.
Students will prepare detailed technical drawings of the construction of their design work, focusing on critical junctions of primary construction elements.
Students may, as part of their studies undertake a site visit to a construction site or site of production of building materials.
Students will complete a small design- build project, and will develop this project through models and drawings from design to execution.
