The Thesis Development module requires the learner to develop a thesis position through investigation of a chosen area of research which is both relevant to a developing thesis design project in Architectural Design Studio 9, and pertinent to the social, environmental, technological and conceptual aims of the final year.
The learner will expand their understanding of a relevant research area through reading and conducting research. They will take a critical position through discussion and critical writing. The output of the module is a thesis research paper, which then forms the basis of further critical writing and research on the developed thesis project in ADS 10. The thesis research paper underpins the final thesis design project.
The research is carried out under supervision and is supplemented by lectures on research and academic writing.
