Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic cells, Transcription and Translation, Recombinant DNA and Proteins. Cell growth kinetics

Bioreactor technology

Reactor design considerations. Control of fermentation process e.g. aeration, pH, agitation and foam control. Media considerations

Isolation and improvement of industrial producer cells

Isolation, screening and selection of producer cells. Appropriate selection of preservation techniques and creation of cell banks. Strain improvement techniques for microbial and mammalian cells. Media considerations

Downstream processes

Crude purification: filtration, TFF, centrifugation. High level purification: chromatography, affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion,hydrophobic interaction. Media considerations

Scale up of bioprocesses
