Module Overview

Dissertation

The dissertation will enable students to undertake an individual original, critical and ethical in-depth study in a selected area of their choice clearly related to Logistics or Supply Chain Management, where relationships of current theoretical models with practice are established and findings from primary research are used to verify or add to current knowledge. The dissertation will allow students to exercise autonomy and initiative in time management and project management related to the business research process; to take responsibility for their own work and progress, and to seek guidance where appropriate and manage ethical and professional issues related to business research. It will enable students to interpret, use and evaluate a variety of non-numerical, numerical and graphical data to achieved goals and targets, and to present formally information concerning logistics of supply chain management issues and business research methods.

While the dissertation will not cover all aspects of earlier modules, there is an expectation that it will reveal an understanding of at least some of the theoretical principles from the taught units of the programme and an appreciation of how they apply in a live context.

The suggested word count of the dissertation is between 15,000 and 18,000 words.
