Module Overview

Drama in Education 1

This intermediate module allows the learner to practically apply Drama-in-Education theory through researching, devising, rehearsing and presenting a Drama-in-Education Programme to a school audience. It builds on core facilitation skills the learners acquired in the first two years in the course, where they learned to create fun, safe and engaging drama workshops. The next stage of the learners development is putting these skills in practice by collaborating with external educational organisations to create a Drama in Education programme. The learners will explore how to integrate wider educational aims into fun, safe and engaging drama workshops. They will explore how to organise and design drama workshops based on mainstream curriculum subject such as history, geography, math and science. It will involve the learners working in small groups to create and facilitate a series of workshops. The aims and objectives of these workshops should meet the needs of the schools students and teachers, while still upholding the inclusive and child centred ethos inherent in Drama-in-Education. The final stage of the module will focus on reflection and honing the learners evaluation and analyse skills in relation to their practice.
