Recital

This advanced module offers the student the opportunity to explore performance work in a range of different styles and topics of particular interest to the student culminating in the creation and presentation of cohesive piece of theatre work.

Theatre direction: The students learn approaches to and consideration for the issues that arise when directing a piece of theatre in Semester 1 through small scene work and presentations.Creating work for performance: The students collaborate to create a 20 min performance piece that brings together scenes from world theatre that are thematically linked. They create a poster, programme and present the work to the course lecturer and a member of faculty.

In semester 1, through workshops and director training the students explore developing small groups or individual work. In semester 2, project work between course tutor and individual students or small group continue as the students collaborate to create pieces for performance to an invited public.


Self-and peer-directed learning is emphasised as the work leads up to the final presentation.
