BIM Electrical (1)

The BIM Electrical module is in response to an AEC industry need for BIM skilled personnel. It is aimed at level seven students wanting to up-skill in the area of BIM Technologies.

This module is designed to take student engineers, with no previous BIM experience, to a level where they are adept with the use of BIM software and can carry out complex tasks within the graphical user interface.

•              Organisation of the graphic user interface (GUI).

•              Hierarchy of commands & sub commands on the GUI.

•              Linking CAD drawings.

•              Levels and grids

•              Creating a 3D model with walls, floors, doors, windows and roofs.

•              Tagging

•              Visibility control.

•              Scheduling.

•              Import families/ creating template files

•              Plotting.

Instruction is by means of in-class lectures, tutorials and consultations. The tutor uses audio visual aids in the form of video tutorials mainly to elaborate on lecture content and to stimulate discussion. The lecture programme will seek to introduce the theories and concepts of the subject matter and prepare the students for tutorials and for project work. The tutorials will provide students with the examples of various BIM processes, management procedures and methodologies including;
