Finance is concerned with the management of finance, provision of financial reporting requirements at seed, product and market development phases of entrepreneurship.
The aim of this module is to develop the knowledge and skills of participants to critically evaluate and competently utilise accounting and finance information at the seed, product and market development stages of entrepreneurship.

- Introduction to the financial reporting environment
- Understanding and interpreting financial statements
- Financial analysis and performance appraisal
- Corporate governance
- Types and sources of finance – long, medium and short term
- Role of finance in new ventures
- Capital structure decisions
- Estimation of financial needs – forecasting and planning
- Working capital and cash management
Participants will be exposed to both formal lectures and supplied and directed readings to introduce and develop the various topics. The application of the concepts and the development of critical abilities will be achieved by case work, some of which will be performed in groups, while others will be analysed and presented by individual participants. Self directed learning will be promoted and encouraged.
