Module Overview

Advanced Analysis Techniques for Food, Beverage, Biopharma

This module aims to equip students with a wide range of most relevant analytical techniques that pertain to contemporary analysis practices and are critical to health products from the fields like food, pharma and biotechnology sectors. Students are guided through step-to-step approach to evaluating (bio)materials, including food, pharma, marine and biotech products in the context of pre-isolation treatment, isolation, detection, characterisation, chemical fingerprinting, quality control, and metabolomic studies. Students are expected to apply principles of different analytical techniques, including green and/or sustainable approaches to critically evaluate chosen research topic from the subject matter list using the information resources available to them. This module also aims to develop team working skills through performance and assessment of group presentation in team format. There will be a strong emphasis on how these technologies are applied to a range of areas in biology, chemistry, food, nutraceutical and therapeutics.
