Introduction to Spreadsheets

Introductory and intermediate spreadsheet functions - creating a simple spreadsheet, basic functions e.g., sum, sort, formatting etc. - added functionality for for graphs, visual aids, rules of precedence, absolute cell referencing, mail merge and more.

Visual Productivity Tools

The use of the MS Office suite and generic application software to produce strong visual and communicative aids for presentations, reports & showcases.

Web-based Research Methodology

Enabling the student to find & discern quality information (both in written and visual format) from the Internet and Online Databases with the means of referencing all materials properly by including hyperlinked Bibliographical references.

Social Media

Introduction to the possibilities, features and functions, benefits and issues of social media. Applicability to digital marketing and e-business adoption by Tourism and Hospitality sector globally. Digital security, ethics & end user security and protocols.

Advanced Word Processing

Actively linking external objects to Word documents – spreadsheets, Charts, Access tables etc. Hyperlinks within and between documents; Advanced formatting including columns, wrapping and backgrounds; Mail Merge.

Lab based learning in a computer lab using Practical Exercises, Group Projects, Online Resources, Guest Speaker. Self directing learning in completing Deliverables, Exercises, Presentations & written reports.
