Digital media technologies

The module aims to inform and equip students with the knowledge and skills to use a wide range of digital media technologies in an effective and creative way. The core areas of digital media are introduced and the lectures are designed to give a strong grounding in numerous tools and theories. The skills learnt in this module will augment the skills and knowledge obtained in other modules, and will be applicable in a wide number of areas. Ultimately, students will be equipped with a wide range of skills that they can build on outside of TUD and after the module has finished within their own knowledge domain and beyond.

Digital content creation and theory: layered paradigm to content creation. Focusing on the Adobe suite of products (Premier, Audition, Photoshop). This feeds into the Digital Story Telling module where these core concepts are taken further and elaborated with more complex methodologies and theories. Basic audio-visual theory: bit rate, sample rate, analogue to digital conversion, digital imaging, aspect ratio etc.

 

 

 

 

Learning and teaching will consist of lectures and tutorials to ensure students have a firm theoretical grounding alongside a set of robust practical skills and abilities as well as more innovative, student-based learning methods such as case studies and practical project work.
