Module Overview

Leadership in Creative Commercial Communications

The module will deal with Leadership Theories with particular focus on challenges faced by and expectations on, leaders in a contemporary context. A central transformational aim of the programme is to enhance the personal leadership capability of individual participants. An important outcome will be an enhanced sense of self in the form of increased self-confidence, self-esteem and personal credibility. This module is concerned with facilitating an understanding of, and ability to apply leadership theory and best practices in work roles. The delivery will be via a combination of live classes and independent learning. The achievement of module learning outcomes will be via engagement with seminal academic literature, industry leading practitioner contributions, and individual critical personal reflection on leadership in practice. There is a clear focus on inter and intrapersonal skills development, including resilience building, which involves the learner undertaking the NEO-PI-R personality assessment followed by the preparation of a personal action plan based on the outcomes of this assessment. This action plan identifies specific areas for self-development with concomitant goals.
