Module Overview

Keyboard Performance Studies 4A

Principal Study: Building on the student’s achievement in Stage 3, this module prepares students for public recital performance. Under the guidance of the Principal Study lecturer, the module focuses on the deepening development of artistry and the refinement of the individual musical personality. Students are expected to avail of a wider range of performance opportunities (solo, ensemble, duo and chamber) including masterclasses, to increase the number of public performances and to undertake a greater exploration of more challenging repertoire, including full concertos. In addition, students are encouraged to engage in more autonomous learning, research and self-promotion.

Keyboard Performance Class: This weekly class provides an important transition from the one-to-one lesson to the eventual public performance. Students perform works in various stages of preparation in a collegiate ambiance and benefit from the development of peer- and self-criticism. Students in Stages 3 and 4 are expected to display initiative and act as positive role models for students in Stages 1 and 2.Students are also expected to incrementally increase the number of performances and presentations to reflect the allocated credits in each Stage/Level.
