This module aims to develop employability skills required for the work environment including CV writing and interviewing skills.
The module will introduce students, entering the health care sector, to an understanding of the need for continuous professional development and the skills required. These skills will include autonomous learning, peer review and reflective practise.
The module prepares students for entry into their work placement and their personal development in the work placement through autonomous learning, self reflection and development of a personal professional development portfolio.

The role of the facilitator in introducing the session, providing the ground rules for discussion (including aims, confidentiality rules, respect for all views etc).

Students will be introduced to the operation of peer discussion meetings
Students will learn through writing their CV and demonstration of their interview skills. Short presentations within a peer review scenario and the development of an e-portfolio based on the workshops and peer discussion meetings.
Students’ e-portfolios will provide examples of work and reflection which demonstrate their abilities. These e-portfolios may be continued into the final year of the programme and indeed may continue to be developed subsequent to graduation as evidence of continuous professional development.
