Module Overview

Photography Practice 4: Narrative Photography

The production of images through staged photography represents a significant area of photographic practice. This is well established within advertising and fine art photography and increasingly within editorial and documentary photography. In this module, students will explore contemporary still life photography with reference to both historical and contemporary art. Building on photographic skills gained in Stage 1 the module examines the role of staging objects, composition and lighting in the controlled environment of the photographic studios. Students will significantly extend their aesthetic and technical skills using large format cameras, and explore more complex lighting setups.
