Module Overview

Photography Practice 10: Self-Directed Project

This module addresses issues of self-directed research and project development across one full semester in preparation for the Major Project module in Stage 4. The aim of the module is to facilitate and guide the student in self-directed research and to challenge him/her to critically reflect on their working methods and process. Building on the outcomes of semester 5, students are asked to test different forms of practice-based research and related professional practices in contemporary photography in order to produce a resolved body of work representing a position or point of view. Particular emphasis is placed on the mapping and documentation of project development. The question of audience and exhibition context is addressed through the development of an installation proposal document.
