Students are required to undertake an individual project within the area of automation engineering. This involves working independently, under supervision, to identify an automation problem and prepare a detailed project proposal document for its solution.
Project Scope and Literature Research
Strategies for identifying a research problem. Requirements gathering. Define problem statement. Formulate questions for literature research, Identify and use a variety of techniques to obtain information (including standard research and electronic retrieval methods). Investigate codes of practice. legislation, regulations as appropriate.
Project Planning/Management
Formulate, implement and review a plan of action. Work consistently to plan, modifying, and adapting where necessary and completing to deadline. Record activities in a log book.
Formulate a technical report
Formulate a detailed project proposal to include literature research, proposed methodology, test plan, design of experiments and analysis. Make a coherent argument and defend decisions, with particular reference to ethics where relevant.
Oral Presentation
Present to internal and external examiners, prepare and present a poster.
