This module is concerned with appraising buildings as:
· A finished product produced to facilitate specific functional requirements during its life cycle.
· A process by means of which the product is brought into being and maintained.
· An entity obliged to conform to a variety of statutory requirements.

Instruction is by means of lectures, tutorials, classroom discussion and site visits wherever possible. Coursework is set to assist the student in furthering their knowledge and understanding. Audio-visual aids in the form of photographic slides and video presentations are used to elaborate on lecture content and stimulate discussion.
