Illustrate a knowledge of accounting terminology and users of accounts

The accounting process. Suppliers and external users of accounting information. Types of business entities. Explain the regulatory framework. Principal accounting statements.

Prepare a set of Non-profit making accounts

Preparation of Receipts and Payments, Income and Expenditure accounts and Accumulated fund and Balance Sheet

Prepare a bank reconciliation statement

Understanding of need for and preparation of bank reconciliation statements

Define the Internal controls of an operation

What are internal controls and why they are so important within a company

Prepare and produce a set of accounts from a trial balance

Trial Balance. Statement of comprehensive Income. Statement of financial position.

Material will be delivered in class via lectures and classes will be interactive with class assignments given. Active learning and online strategies such as practice MCQs and polls will be used to increase student interest and engagement

Tutorials will be interactive and students will practice in-class assignments on the topic covered in class and to prepare students for upcoming assessments. 

Recordings of assignments will be provided on the VLE as an extra resource available for students.
