Environmental Management and Protection

This module is designed to present the student with an overview of current and emerging environmental issues faced by public and private organisations including manufacturing industries. It also considers the environmental health aspects of raw material extraction and use, waste, waste management practices and contaminated land management.

Hazardous wastes. Contaminated site investigations. Site remediation. Public health impacts of waste. Wastewater treatment.

 

Review of the environmental characteristics of different industrial sectors, Environmental pressures on organisations, Environmental management systems, Emergency preparedness and response planning, Operational controls for environmental management, General procedures for pollution prevention, Licensing and regulatory controls, Environmental reporting, Environmental auditing, Environmental indicators.
