Module Overview

Life Cycle Nutrition and Health Promotion

This module builds on and encompasses the fundamentals of the module TFNT0021, Introductory Nutrition, and relates optimum sustainable nutrition, in terms of energy, nutrient and non-nutrient requirements to each stage of the lifecycle.

The module introduces the learner to the nutrient requirements of each stage of the lifecycle and addresses the needs for sustainable nutrition and sustainable diets at each life stage. It delivers instruction on the relationship between optimum sustainable nutritional needs, health, well-being and disease prevention at each stage of the lifecycle – this module thereby aims to address the UNs Sustainable Development Guidelines 2 and 3.
Health promotion is fundamental to nutritional education and behavioural change and this module introduces the principles and methods of health promotion.
