This module examines narrative strategies in visual culture. Each seminar focuses on a particular artefact to examine theories of narratology relevant to visual culture today. We explore the ways in which art, design, media and material visual cultures both reflect and impact on our understanding of diverse narrative forms. The module aims to provide a foundational understanding of narrative structures and strategies so that students can formulate a critical evaluation of cultural artifacts produced during and since the modernist period.
