The work-placement/ internship component is an integral part of the academic programme of the Higher Diploma in Computing. The aims of the component are to:Offer the student the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills gained throughout the course in a relevant work-place setting;Facilitate the student in developing the practical competencies and communication skills necessary to function as an effective team member in the work environment.
Placement/ Internship
At the end of the first semester learners will be matched with placements/ internships provided by placement partners. Placement partners will present opportunities to which learners will apply. At this point students will be encouraged to reflect on their strengths and areas of interest when applying for positions.Students will have an opportunity to prepare for placement by undertaking a project specified by their placement partner and by taking a specialised industry module relevant to their placement learners will be prepared to gain maximum benefit from their placement/ internship.Students will maintain a reflective learning log and complete a final report
