TUDublin furniture making students at work

Welcome to our school in the Technological University Dublin, Grangegorman.

In January 2021, we moved into our brand new purpose-built East Quad creative arts centre. At nearly 17,000 square meters, our new centre has allowed us to increase the size and number of our studios, completely reequip our workshops and provide our students with state of the art technology fit for a 21st-century art school.

Our colleagues from the TU Dublin Conservatoire, School of Media and Languages, Law and Social Sciences, have joined us in this new centre for the creative performing and media arts. Bringing all the visual arts together with Music, Drama, Film, Gaming, TV, Journalism, Languages and the Humanities and Social Sciences in a custom-built building with new art and design studios, concert and recital halls, theatre and TV studios is a first for Irish university education. We are really looking forward to working with all of these schools. We believe the energy of nearly 3,000 musicians, artists, designers, filmmakers, actors, directors and theorists of culture, media, politics and society can become an extraordinary resource for all and inspire new directions across all areas of our cultural life.

We believe that the role of the new university is to foster and shape a new critical understanding of the dynamic interaction between society and technology. We are determined that the creative arts will have a key strategic part to play in this process.

The emergence of the creative and cultural sector as a critical agent of social and economic transformation in Ireland and Europe has long been documented. Our vision is to lead education, practice and research for Ireland’s creative and cultural industry and act as a national and international benchmark for the creative arts. Our fundamental values are excellence in scholarly activity through creative practice and research combined with a student-centred learning environment encouraging creativity, flexibility and innovation. Engagement with the real world has always been central to our school over the years. We intend to build on our track record by delivering creative programmes with a strong industry, professional and community focus.

We hope to keep you informed of all of the exciting developments in our programmes and facilities.
