Lecturer 

Geraldine Mitchell has over 30 years’ experience of teaching German at Third Level and has taught on undergraduate programmes in Engineering, Science, Business and Humanities. In recent years she has taught Critical Skills Development and has supported students with Academic English writing.  

Geraldine has acted as external examiner at GMIT (ATU, Galway City) and ITB (TU Dublin Blanchardstown) and was also Co-Chaire of the Association of Third-Level Teachers of German in Ireland (2005 – 2008).   

In 2013 Geraldine co-founded with two colleagues the Culture Xchange @ TU Dublin (formerly @ IT Tallaght). This initiative supported the enhancement of the semester abroad experience for incoming Erasmus students. The Culture Xchange has also contributed to cultural awareness through a series of ‘Culture Bite’ slides on e-boards in the college and has engaged in outreach through the highly successful annual Christmas Market on campus. 

Geraldine began her PhD in September 2022 under the supervision of Dr Eamon Maher (TU Dublin) on the topic of Crime and Punishment. Her comparative study encompasses the Hebrew Bible, the German pastor and Hitler opponent Dietrich Bonhoeffer as well as the Rebus novels of Ian Rankin.
