As a lecturer at TU Dublin and a teacher at UCD, Lichao has specialized in teaching the Chinese language and culture. With a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature and a Master's degree in Higher Education, he brings extensive experience to his position. He has taught English in China, and Chinese to students of various proficiency levels in Ireland, both in Irish tertiary education and secondary schools. His area of interest is focused on exploring the motivations and experiences of second-generation Chinese and non-native Chinese students in learning the language and culture. He also holds certification as a legal Chinese to English translator with ITIA (Irish Translators’ and Interpreter’ Association) and is currently serving as the Secretary of the Irish Association of Chinese Teaching (IACT).
