BA in Spanish, Universidad Complutense; M.A. Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language, Universidad de Alcalá; Ph.D Contemporary Spanish Literature, University College Dublin. 

Previous appointments: Tutor of Spanish and Spanish Literature in University College Dublin, National University of Ireland Maynooth, and Nagasaki University College of Foreign Languages. 

Paloma Pérez-Valdés’ teaching areas include General Spanish from beginners to advanced level, Spanish for Professional Purposes, Spanish Culture and Society, and Spanish Literature.  

Paloma has collaborated with Instituto Cervantes in the preliminary research for their Spanish Virtual Course and she specialised in the teaching of Spanish for Business in a European Union funded programme in Universidad de Alcalá. 

Paloma's research focuses on Contemporary Spanish Literature, more specifically fiction written by women, short stories and crime fiction; also on XIX century Spanish Travel and Naturalist Literature. 

Paloma has been an Erasmus coordinator and an external examiner for Humanities programmes at ITT and DkIT. She is currently the second year coordinator for Languages in the LIT programme. 

She welcomes doctoral proposals on Women’s Studies, Contemporary Spanish Literature and Spanish Culture, including Business Culture.
