Rachelle O’Brien is a lecturer and researcher in the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Technological University Dublin. She lectures across a number of event management and hospitality modules including Responsible Events Management, Conference Management, Event Industry Studies and Event Operations as well as supervising dissertations at undergraduate level. She is also year tutor on the BSc Event Management programme. Her current research projects include the Next Tourism Generation Alliance project co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme and also, the Sustainable Event Industry Knowledge (SEIK) project funded by TU Dublin Impact, The National Forum of teaching and Learning and The higher Education Authority. SEIK involves the co-creation of innovative teaching resources with lecturers, event management students and industry partners, bridging the gap between education and industry. 

Prior to her academic career, Rachelle worked in the Tourism and Hospitality industry for 20 years in senior management roles. Her extensive industry background includes Director of Sales & Marketing positions with Hilton Worldwide and Marriott International as well as product development for incoming tour operators and market research and planning assistance for Fáilte Ireland.
