Duration: 1 Year 

Mode of Study: Part Time  

Method of Delivery: Weekly online lectures, 1 evening per week, with two face to face workshops during each semester. Please see schedule below with further details. 

Location: Face to face induction will take place on TU Dublin’s Blanchardstown campus. Location for the capstone workshop will be confirmed with learners during the semester to ensure location is accessible for the majority of learners. Possible locations include TU Dublin’s Aungier campus, Grangegorman Campus and Carmichael House.  

Schedule: This programme runs for 2 semesters, one module per semester 

Semester 1 will begin on Friday 29th September 2023 with a face to face on campus induction. Induction will take place on the Blanchardstown campus from 3pm to 6pm. This will be followed by 2 hour weekly online lectures from 7pm to 9pm which will begin on Wednesday 4th October.  During week 11 of the semester a face-to-face capstone workshop will be scheduled. Location and time will be confirmed with learners during the semester. Please note the programme coordinator will go through the timetable in detail with all learners during induction on Friday 29th September.

Minimum Entry Requirements

Applicants may meet one of the following entry requirements:

  • Graduates of QQI level 5 or 6 awards are eligible.

  • Leaving Certificate – Applicants must have a pass in five subjects (ordinary level) in the Leaving Certificate to include Mathematics and English or Irish, or an equivalent qualification. Leaving Certificate Mathematics at Foundation Level at grade H3 or higher is acceptable for this programme.

  • Mature applicants (i.e. those who are aged 23 years or more on January 1st in the year of entry) are also eligible to apply and will be assessed to considering all aspects of the applicants prior learning and work experience. Applicants may be required to sit a suitability test and/or an interview to secure a place if they do not wish to compete on a Leaving Certificate or QQI level 5 or 6 as above. Focus for such applications will be on the following:
    • Any relevant experience or training
    • Career goals
    • Preparation for higher education (recent courses/study)
    • Awareness of the demands of part-time higher education (workload, finances, impact on personal and social circumstances, etc.)
    • Evidence that the applicant has researched the course

An English level of IELTS 6 or above is required for entry to the programme. Due recognition of prior learning will be given to students which may provide the necessary pre-requisites required for this programme.

There is no minimum requirement in any specialism outside of the minimum requirements above. 

Overview

This Level 6 programme aims to provide learners with a broad understanding of the governance framework guiding Organisations and an understanding and appreciation of the organisational behaviours within an organisation. This will allow the learner to be informed and confident in their roles.

The module will draw on concepts and theories from the field of organisational behaviour, management and the not-for-profit environment to gain further understanding of different organisational behaviours and to improve learners’ self-confidence and potential governance effectiveness. Learners will engage in self-reflection regarding their use of individual and organisational actions.

Applicants should have a minimum second class honours bachelor degree (2.2 or higher) in any discipline or equivalent third level qualification.
 
Applicants not meeting the normal entry requirements but with relevant prior experiential learning may be proposed by the Programme Director for exceptional entry by submitting an Exceptional Entry application to the sub-committee of College Board.
 
If English is not your first language you will need to provide evidence of your English language proficiency as detailed on our website. Applicants for this course should have a minimum IELTS (Academic Version) English Proficiency of 6.5 overall (or equivalent) with nothing less than 6 in each component.

The CPD in Creative Thinking in Creative Commercial Communications is designed to explore the diverse facets of creativity and creative work. Drawing on the psychological theories of creativity and interdisciplinary collaboration, the module explores the characteristics, traits, skills and competencies associated with creativity. It looks at the principles and practices of creative collaboration, including the tools, methods and processes employed in creative communities of practice.

The CPD in Leadership in Creative Commercial Communications is concerned with facilitating an understanding of and ability to apply leadership theory and best practices in work roles. The CPD will deal with Leadership Theories with particular focus on challenges faced by and expectations on leaders in a contemporary context. There is a clear and legitimate focus of intrapersonal skills. The delivery will be via a combination of live classes and independent learning. The achievement of CPD learning outcomes will be via a group-based engagement with a seminal contribution in the leadership literature and an individual critical personal reflection on leadership in practice.

On Completion of this module, the learner will be able to
