Faculty of Arts & Humanities Scholarships

These scholarships support creative and critical thinkers pursuing studies in the arts and humanities. They are designed to recognise talent, encourage academic excellence, and help reduce financial barriers for students in these fields.

Many of Diageo’s operations have long and historical links with their local communities and are committed to trying to improve the social, educational and cultural needs of these communities through their Corporate Social Responsibility programmes.   Each year the company sponsors hundred’s of cultural and sporting events locally and nationally. This ongoing involvement in Irish life complements Diageo’s commercial and corporate commitment to Ireland. 

The Diageo Rising Star award is an annual award recognising a student who is innovative, creative, and entrepreneurial and who demonstrates a commitment to ‘going the extra mile’.

The awardee for 2024 is Rebecca Donnelly, 3rd year Culinary Arts. 

The first year of the award was in 2023, and the recipient was chosen from students in all years of the Culinary Entrepreneurship programme by the teaching team, year tutors and programme co-ordinator though a nomination and shortlisting process.

Sophie Kemp was chosen as the award winner in recognition of their creativity and innovation in the field of culinary entrepreneurship. As noted by one of the lecturers:

“Sophie has the ability to think outside the box and come up with unique solutions to complex problems, she always brings a fresh perspective to in class discussions and is not afraid to challenge conventional thinking.”

The award, which is sponsored by Diageo, is valued at €1,000. The official presentation of the award, by Diageo, took place at the School’s annual award ceremony. 

Diageo also support the TU Dublin School Wide Cocktail Competition in School of Culinary Arts, in 2023 the winners were:

  • 1st Prize - Samuel Lynch  
  • 2nd Prize - Nathan Farrell 
  • 3rd Prize - Ethan Holohan

The Eileen O’Mara Walsh Scholarship Programme celebrates the life and achievements of Dr. Eileen O’Mara Walsh. Eileen’s family, in conjunction with Dublinia, a not-for-profit organisation celebrating it's 30th anniversary in 2024, wish to mark her contribution to the Tourism industry by supporting future generations.

Eileen O’Mara Walsh was a prominent figure in the Irish tourism industry for nearly four decades. She was the first woman to chair the board of a commercial State company, Great Southern Hotels, the founder and first chairwoman of the Irish Tourist Industry Confederation, and chairwoman of Forbairt, now Enterprise Ireland, for five years. Her many other roles included director of Aer Lingus, chairwoman of Opera Ireland, governor of St Patrick’s Hospital, a trustee of the Medieval Trust and Dublinia, and a member of the International Women’s Forum.

In 2006 she received an honorary doctorate from Dublin Institute of Technology for her contribution to the Irish tourism industry.Eileen O'Mara Walsh Scholars

Qualifying Programmes 

The Scholarship will support one student on one of the following 1-year Masters’ in Tourism Management programmes:  

Application Process & Criteria 

Applicants must be accepted into one of the listed courses, and subject to commencing their place on the course, they will receive the award. Failure to enroll disqualifies the student from receiving the scholarship, which triggers the application process for a new Eileen O’Mara Walsh scholar.  

Selection 

The interview panel will include TU Dublin Academic leaders in Tourism, a representative from Dublinia, and a member of the O’Mara Walsh Family if desired.   

Value 

Scholarships are valued at €4,000 and will be paid in full to the student by bank transfer from TU Dublin Foundation. 

Ongoing Scholarships 

If the successful recipient fails to achieve the required academic results or ceases to participate in the course, they will no longer receive the scholarship and a new application process will commence. 

Publicity and reporting  

Scholars may be required to take part in PR activity and to support TU Dublin Foundation in their communication with the donor. This includes (but not limited to) being available for photographs, writing a report and allowing the use of your photograph and story to promote the scholarship programme.  

We were thrilled to host the 2025 Jones Engineering Awards on the 20th of March in Grangegorman. These awards support talent from a diverse range of disciplines, fostering innovation and inspiring students.

TU Dublin takes immense pride in partnering with Jones Engineering on these annual awards which continue to inspire and support the next generation of industry leaders.

Scholarship Details

The Lee Hotels Scholarship is open to 2nd year students of TU745 BA Hospitality Management Level 7. A Scholarship of €3,000 will be awarded to one successful student in both their 2nd and 3rd years, provided they successfully complete all years.  

Internship & Work Placement 

As part of the Scholarship, the successful student will have the opportunity to complete their 2nd year internship with Lee Hotels, in the Mespil Hotel Dublin. All applicants will be encouraged to consider this placement opportunity.  

The Maria Wallace Foundation - MSc. Fashion Buying and Management Scholarship 2026

This Scholarship will cover fees, and an allowance for living expenses, during the student’s time in the course.

The successful candidate for the scholarship must be someone who has exceptional potential to succeed but would not be in a financial position to complete the Masters without the support of the scholarship.

Potential candidates will be required to submit a personal statement outlining why they would like to be considered for this scholarship, which will be reviewed by the Programme Manager and Programme Chair. A shortlist of potential applicants who match the criteria will be interviewed by the Wallace family and a trustee of the charity, Aoife Buckley, for final approval.

Applications for the scholarship for term starting January 2026 are now open.

This should include a personal statement of no more than 1000 words, stating why you should be chosen. Submissions are only valid if an offer of acceptance on the course has been issued. Candidates must apply for the course through the normal channels.

TU Dublin are proud to announce the Musgrave MarketPlace Scholarship Programme.

Musgrave Marketplace will generously provide three scholarships to 2nd year students in Culinary Arts, and Baking and Pastry Arts Management.

The awarded students will receive €3,000 each, per year, for their 2nd, 3rd and 4th year, providing they show proof of successfully progressing into each academic year.

Scholarship Details
The Panelto Scholarship is open to 1st Year students enrolled in Culinary Arts and Baking and Pastry Arts Management. 

The successful student will receive a scholarship of €3,000 per year, for the duration of their studies; providing they show proof of successfully progressing into each academic year. The awardee will also receive additional supports from Panelto including an industry relationship, opportunities for summer internships, and access to employment opportunites.

Quality met quality with Chefs and ingredients at the third annual Silver Hill Duck cooking competition at TU Dublin. From dozens of entries across a wide range of culinary courses, 8 finalists were selected to create their favourite Silver Hill Duck Dish. The next generation of Chefs in Ireland showcased amazing culinary creativity using our world renowned product.
Nathan Maher was the winner of the 2023 Silver Duck Competition in the School of Culinary Arts & Food Technology.

Scholarship Details:

The Sodexo Scholarship is open to 1st year students in the Higher Certificate of Professional Cookery, TU643, and will reopen to new applicants in late 2023.

A Scholarship of €3,000 will be awarded to one successful 1st year student enrolled in the Higher Certificate of Professional Cookery. Subject to achieving the required academic results this student will also receive €3,000 following enrolment in their 2nd year.

Work Placement & Internship

As part of the Sodexo Scholarship award, the successful student will have the opportunity to complete (where relevant) their industry placement in 2024/25 and will have the opportunity to complete summer work with Sodexo.

Teeling Whiskey Scholarship Programme

 TU Dublin Foundation is delighted to announce the inaugural Teeling Whiskey Scholarship Programme. 

‘At Teeling Whiskey we are renowned for our vision in doing things differently and with deep roots in distilling pedigree dating back to 1782, have shaped the Irish Whiskey landscape through the generations. Since 2012, Jack and Stephen Teeling, the latest generation of Teeling Whiskey makers have been putting their own mark on Irish Whiskey and came full circle in 2015 when they proudly opened the New Teeling Whiskey Distillery right in the heart of Dublin City. The Teeling Whiskey Distillery today is the first new distillery in Dublin for over 125 years.’
