Food, Plastic and Community Gardens
*This event is postponed and will not take place in September*
Do you want to engage in fun outdoor workshop with other students to learn how together we can take action to reduce our dependency on this unhealthy and wasteful material?
Calling all students at TU Dublin's Blanchardstown campus (and beyond!). Join our partners at Global Action Plan at the GLAS @TU Blanchardstown Community Garden on Monday, September 23, 2024 for a workshop exploring how our food system creates single use plastic waste, and how community gardens can help us be more sustainable.
Join Diane O'Connor from The Sustainable Life School for this fun and informative session on how we can make small changes that collectively have big impacts. The workshop will focus on plastic reduction and climate friendly eating while exploring how community gardens can support these areas of sustainable living. Students will learn how simple things we can do and maybe are already doing support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Expect lots of tips, chats, and to come away feeling inspired. This is a free but ticketed event with limited places - staff and members of the wider community are also encouraged to join the event.

Community Gardening at TU Dublin
With 115 acres of land across Dublin city-centre and sub-urban communities, TU Dublin campuses provide a dynamic space to bring people together in social gardening projects that promote sustainability and community engagement. TU Dublin has two active community gardens which offer educational experiences around organic growing, health and wellbeing and horticulture.
This Food, Plastic and Community Gardens event, as part of the wider Community Garden projects at TU Dublin, supports and compliments many of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), in particular SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 13: Climate Action, SDG 15: Life on Land, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
