Published: 12 Feb, 2024

The Erasmus+ project NEMOS, together with TU Dublin’s Faculty of Sciences & Health and TU Dublin Sustainability welcome students and staff to ‘Education for Sustainability & EU GreenComp Framework’, a Green Week event.

As part of the Sustainability in Sciences and Health - Industry perspectives seminar, TU Dublin is delighted to welcome Eamon Judge to speak about ‘Sustainability: Emerging trends in the biopharma industry’.

Eamon will present a review of emerging trends in the biopharma industry as it helps lead an accelerating focus on sustainability in line with the expectations of its societal, employee, regulatory and investor stakeholders. Initiatives will be described that illustrate how a biopharma company has integrated a focus on being Net Zero by 2030 into the lifecycle of its supply of medicine.

Eamon Judge

Eamon Judge recently retired from his role as Executive Director in Eli Lilly's Global Engineering Headquarters after a 43 year long career in the biopharma industry. He joined Eli Lilly in 1980 with a B Eng (Hons) Chemical Engineering Degree from UCD. He has held a range of senior leadership functions at Lilly's manufacturing site just outside Kinsale, Cork, including Executive Director in Lilly’s Global Engineering function with responsibility for strategic planning for over $3B of investments. He had Senior Director oversight of Lilly’s Engineering and HSE Functions which included a focus on improving the sustainability of its operations. He represented Lilly on the governance counsel of Biopharmachemical Ireland and became President of the Ireland Affiliate of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering. Eamon’s personal interest in environmental, social, & governance (ESG) has been to the fore throughout his career and especially in recent years as he oversaw the construction of Ireland’s largest ‘private wire’ solar farms at Lilly’s site in Ireland. Eamon’s peers recognised his career contributions of the sector by declaring him the 2022 Biopharma Leader of the Year.
