About this event:

A lecture recital on the evolution of the guitar during the 19th century by Adrian Le Harivel, curator of British Art at National Gallery of Ireland.

Adrian Le Harivel is an expert in the field of art history and has a passion for exploring the connection between music and visual representation.

Adrian will guide on a journey through the evolution of the guitar by showcasing the visual representation of the instrument in paintings from the 19th century. Not only will we get to see the organological modification of the guitar during this time, but we will also gain insight into the social context in which the instrument was played.

This will be a truly unique and engaging experience, bringing to life the history of the guitar through the visual arts.

In collaboration with TouchTheSound project, TU Dublin students and researchers will be performing pieces from the period on original guitars or modern copies of the ones represented in the paintings.

This will be a rare opportunity to hear the music that was played during this time and to see how it has evolved over the years.
