When not at the Conservatory Kieran is a renowned broadcaster with RTE Radio, presenting the flagship weekly radio programme Céilí House.

Kieran is the Artistic Director of TradFest  Temple Bar, one of Ireland’s largest celebrations of folk and Irish traditional music.

Kieran is a member of the Expert advisory committee of Culture Ireland.

A member of the peer panel for Arts Council of Ireland.

Kieran is the director of Scoil Éigse, the annual summer school in the traditional arts organised by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann catering for between seven and nine hundred students. 

Previously Kieran founded the internationally renowned trad/folk group Stockton’s Wing.

Also, acknowledged as a pioneer of the tenor banjo in Irish traditional music.

Former All Ireland Champion on tenor banjo.

Awarded DIT Gold medal in 2011 for Master’s Thesis “The Emergence and Teaching of the Tenor Banjo in Irish Traditional Music”
