Claire Flynn studied piano with the late Dorothy Stokes at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dr Mary Lennon at DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama and subsequently with Christopher Elton in London. She obtained an honours BMus from UCD and an MA in Performance and Musicology from NUI Maynooth. Claire has a special interest in the Music of Robert and Clara Schumann and has had the opportunity to pursue further research at the Robert Schumann Institute and the Heinrich Heine Institute in Dusseldorf. She has performed as soloist, chamber musician and accompanist at the National Concert Hall, the Hugh Lane Gallery, UCD, TCD, DIT, Queen’s University Belfast and the Goethe Institute.

Claire joined the staff of  Conservatoire in 1989 and was appointed as a full-time lecturer in 1999. She held the position of course chair for the Music Foundation Course DT604 from September 2003 and is currently based in the Keyboard Department.
