Accordionist Dermot Dunne has appeared at most Irish venues and festivals including the National Concert Hall, Vicar Street, Belfast Opera House and The BBC Last Night at the Proms - to a live audience of over 10,000, West Cork Chamber Music Festival, Dublin International Chamber Music Festival and Internationally at Carnegie Hall NYC, Kennedy Centre Washington DC, Beijing University Concert Hall and the Esplanade Singapore.  As well as collaborating with many leading Irish performers Dermot has performed chamber music with some of Europe's leading international stars including Natalie Clein, Daniel Muller-Schott, Pekka Kuusisto and Ivan Monighetti. He has often performed as a guest soloist with the Irish Chamber Orchestra in Ireland and also in China and Singapore.

For over 20 years he has pioneered his instrument in Ireland – collaborating with many Irish composers and premiering 40 of the 54 works written for the accordion by Irish composers since 1995. He has been involved in more than 15 CD recordings. He has also arranged countless works both for solo accordion and for ensembles including accordion.

He has performed and recorded with Concorde Contemporary Music Ensemble since 2001 including performances of Irish contemporary music in England, France, Spain, Denmark, Slovenia and Macedonia. With Crash Ensemble he has recorded two CDs and performed at the Edinburgh Festival, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden London, Carnegie Hall, New York and the Kennedy Centre in Washington D.C. He recorded three CDs and toured over 8 years with Argentinean singer and guitarist Ariel Hernandez and their group Lunfardia. Over the last 10 years he has performed frequently with Katherine Hunka on violin and Malachy Robinson on Double bass in a group called The Far Flung Trio who recorded a live CD which was released in 2020.

Performances and recordings during 2021 included concerto performances with the Irish Chamber Orchestra, chamber music recordings for the Sligo Chamber Music Festival, the premiere of Donnacha Dennehy's Opera 'The First Child' with INO, as the featured artist in a Kaleidofeature for Kaleidoscope Night, a CD with cellist Adrian Mantu of works by 20th Century Irish composers and a CD with singer Mary Coughlan which is a re-imagining of a Peggy Lee Album ‘Mirrors’. In January 2022 he will record 5 newly commissioned works by Irish composers as part of a film to mark the 100th anniversary of the publication of Ulysses by James Joyce.

Since 2003 he has been a lecturer at TU Dublin Conservatoire and since 2017 has been the programme chair of the BMus degree
