Belfast born Noel Eccles has been at the forefront of the Irish music business for 40 years as a performer, producer, composer and manager. He was appointed principal percussionist to the RTE National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland at the age of 18, the orchestras youngest ever section leader and a position he held for 17 years until 1995.

His innovative approach to music brought him extensive work with Irish and International composers and producers. The country's "first call" studio percussionist Noels' concert and recording credits feature U2, The Corrs, Rita Connolly, Mike Oldfield, The Chieftains, Van Morrison, Anuna, David Foster, Elmer Bernstein, Elvis Costello, Secret Garden, Shaun Davey, Dave Stewart, Brian Eno, Imelda May and Glen Hansard. He has contributed to many Grammy nominated and Grammy awarded albums and his studio work brought him to the attention of Moving Hearts the ground breaking Celtic Rock band who defined the genre with their album ‘The Storm’. This led to much involvement with traditional musicians in Ireland and abroad and continues to this day with projects from Romania to Roscommon and Norway to Notre Dame. He was an original member and Musical Director of the Riverdance Orchestra and premiered the show in the major cities of the USA, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Production and directorial credits include the Opening Ceremony of Irelands European Presidency and the Launch of Meeting Place Square,The Closing concert of Cork European City of Culture. Percussion Spectacular at the National Concert Hall. Noel was Creative Director for the opening event of The Gathering “Notre Dame A Welcome Home” at the O2 Dublin and was assistant musical director for Ceiliúradh in the Albert Hall the concert celebrating the president Michael D Higgins visit to the UK. In 2016 Noel co-composed and performed “Turbulence" for Orchestra and World percussion ensemble on the award winning Live RTE Broadcast Concert Spectacular “Centenary”celebrating Irelands first 100 years as a republic.

Noel's continues to work with ensembles and artists from across the world including The RTE National Symphony Orchestra and The RTE Concert Orchestra, Wexford Festival Opera, The Irish Chamber Orchestra, The Sibiu Philharmonic, Bucharest Symphony, The Ulster Orchestra, Eva, Moya Brennan, Alyth McCormack, The CAN Trio ,Moving Hearts and recently film composers Dean Valentine and Stephen McKeon.

Noel is devoted to percussion education in Ireland and is delighted to be part of the team at The Conservatoire of Music and Drama at Technical University Dublin Grangegorman
