Participation in ensembles is an important way of developing musical communication and of learning and practising performance skills.  Students in the Orchestral and Vocal Department are assigned to an ensemble, attendance at which is obligatory.

The ensembles are listed here:

We also encourage students to take part in smaller chamber music groups.

Performances

The Conservatoire runs regular series of performances open to the public, including ensemble concerts, solo and chamber music recitals, opera and drama productions, and musical evenings, featuring students of all levels.

Students are expected to participate in concerts and other performance opportunities.  Details will be posted on notice boards and on the Conservatoire website.  Students are required to perform at Conservatoire concerts when called upon to do so.

Formed in the summer of 2008, the Chatham Saxophone Quartet was named after the street on which its members first met. Since their foundation in 2008 they have performed at the Boyle Arts Festival,International language Conference at Alliance Francaise for president Mc Aleese, INVITE: International Music Education Conference April 2010, the Unitarian church and, most recently, the National Concert Hall, Dublin. In 2011 the quartet became The Galway Music Residency's Apprentice Ensemble where they were mentored by ConTempo and gave several performances. The CSQ is dedicated to the performance of a wide range of music from the standards of the saxophone quartet repertoire to new contemporary works. Each of the quartet's members are also active in composing and arranging new works for the group.
