Dr Orla McConnell

Assistant Lecturer

Orla Mc Connell joined TU Dublin in 2015 and is an Assistant Lecturer in Culinary Arts. She facilitates modules across several programmes encompassing both theoretical and practical components.

She holds a Doctor of Philosophy, a MSc in Culinary Innovation and Food Product Development, and a BA in Culinary Arts. Over a period of 20 years working in the food and hospitality sector, she has gained cross-sectoral industry experience in managing diverse teams and cultivating environments of excellence.

Research Interests

Orla’s research has focused on professionalism in culinary arts, and the intersection between the academic and professional worlds of chefs. She has previously contributed to the Dublin Gastronomy Symposium on the topic of culinary arts education and professional kitchen culture. Other areas of interest include gastronomy, and professional development in teaching and learning.
