Profile

Dr Brian Vaughan is a Senior Lecturer and researcher at TU Dublin.

He is the founder and Director of the Virtual Interaction Research Lab (VIRaL), which is at the vanguard of virtual and augmented reality research and development in Ireland in the lab’s large, dedicated space. As the Director of the lab, he oversees all projects from start to finish, as well as being the lab’s main VR/AR/XR designer.

Dr Vaughan has extensive experience in applied research and research commercialisation, as well as technology development and deployment, having worked on a number of applied research projects over the years. He was previously a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow on the FastNet (Focus on Social Talk: Network Enabling Technology) project in Trinity College Dublin, where he developed novel social signal analysis solutions and methods.

He has an extensive peer-reviewed publications record and has supervised several PhDs to completion. Among his notable achievements are developing customised VR/AR solutions for some of the largest technology companies in Ireland, and securing significant research funding for his field.

 

Teaching Profile

Dr Brian Vaughan lectures across a diverse range of courses and modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level in the broad area of creative digital media including:

He has also supervised a number of PhDs to completion.
