Architectural Technologist

Shane Kearney is an Associate Architectural Technologist at Henry J Lyons Architects and part time lecturer on the TU831 BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology programme. 

Shane initially enrolled on the Level 7 BSc Architectural Technology in 2005 and graduated in 2008 with a Distinction. Following a year working in the telecom sector as a Structural CAD Technician, he returned to education in 2010, joining the newly established BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology progamme. Shane graduated with First Class Honours in 2011, winning the Department of Architectural Technology award for Best Esquisse and the College of Engineering and Built Environment Director’s Award for best graduate. He was also selected to represent DIT at the 3rd Level Student Wood awards, receiving a commendation.

Following graduation in 2011, Shane secured employment in RKD Architects where worked as an Architectural Technologist on a number of high profile projects including the Diageo St. James Gate redevelopment (2011) and Kerry Group EMEA HQ (2013).

In 2013 Shane joined Henry J Lyons Architects and has delivered a number of school projects, including the first publicly procured BIM Level 2 project in Ireland which have won numerous BIM specific industry awards. 

He is currently the Technical Lead on the Client Team for Phase 1 of the high profile Dublin Airport Central office development comprising 20000sqm of Grade A office, landscapes urban park and Terminal Link Bridge. He has also been involved in several other airport projects, both airside and landside, and a number of residential  developments. 

In addition to his role as an Architectural Technologist, he is heavily involved in BIM Implementation in the office and was involved in Henry J Lyons recently achieving BSI accreditation as Tier 1 Consultants for Design and Verification to BIM Level 2. They are one of the first Architectural Practices in Ireland to do so. 

In 2015 Shane completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management in Trinity College Dublin and he has been a part time member of staff of the TU Dublin, School of Multidisciplinary Technologies on the MSc ABIMM since 2014. 

In 2018 Shane served on the judging panel for the first World Skills BIM event which was hosted in  TU Dublin Bolton Street.

Shane was appointed Associate in Henry J Lyons in January 2019.
