Note: Aungier St Health Centre is not open this semester and all health care services are in Rathdown House on the Grangegorman site.

  • Grangegorman Health Centre is open Monday to Friday 9:00 to 13:00 & 14:00 to 17:00.

To make an appointment to see a doctor or nurse in either health centre please call 01 220 5700.

If there are no GP appointments available when you call us, please ask to speak to a nurse or book an appointment with a nurse. The nurse may be able to get you a GP appointment sooner. 

Please wear a mask if you have COVID symptoms, a cold or a cough - they are available at the door and at reception.

GP appointments and specialist clinics or services are available  Term Time only and not during the holidays. 

There is a nurse led service apart from Bank or National Holidays.

Please note: if you make an appointment and fail to give us 24 hours notice of cancellation/reschedule a €10 charge will be applied to your account.

The GP service is available Monday - Friday . If there are no GP appointments available , please ask to speak to a nurse or book an appointment with a nurse. The nurse may be able to get you an appointment sooner for you. 

Out of Hours

For access to out of hours GP services or in an emergency go to the nearest Accident and Emergency Department- Find urgent and emergency care in Ireland - HSE.ie .

Students should note that there is a fee for this service to non-Medical Card / European Health Service Card (EHIC) holders.

If you have health insurance you may be able to claim some of the costs back depending on your policy.  In an emergency call 999/112

Non -EU International student fee for attending Accident and Emergency in Dublin can be €300-€350.

Sick certs: If you are sick on a particular day and cannot attend compulsory labs or lectures on that day, you are required to either phone or e-mail the Health Centre to request a sick note.  Backdated sick certs cannot be issued unless you contacted us on the day you were sick.

Out of Term Time

If you need to see a Doctor out of term time and you are not registered with a GP, please phone the Student Health Centre on 01 220 5700 to speak to a nurse Monday - Friday.

(Find a GP). We recommend all students register with a GP locally to them if they are not from Dublin with their own GP.

Blanchardstown

Location

  • Room BC 108 Upstairs in Croi Building.

Staff

Nurse: Deirdre Betson is the campus nurse. She is a registered mental health, and general nurse. Deirdre is a qualified Sexual Health Educator.

Doctor: The female GP attends campus during teaching weeks. This is a free service to all undergraduate and fulltime students of TU Dublin Blanchardstown.

Clinic times are:
Monday 10am to 3pm
Thursday 10am to 3pm

All appointments are made through the nurse and you may be invited for a nurse consultation prior to seeing the GP. Emergencies are given priority. This is a supplementary service and every student is expected to have registered with their own GP.

  • There is no charge to see either the nurse or the GP.

Please be aware when you are attending the GP that appointment times are 10 minutes in duration. If you have other issues to discuss you will be asked to make a future appt. to deal with these. Please respect other students and their scheduled appointment times.

Please feel free to come in and talk to the nurse ( consultations FREE) about any issues that may concern you- no appointment necessary. The Campus Dr. does not attend the Health Centre out of the Academic Term. The College Nurses will have a limited service as they take some holidays during the Summer too! You are most welcome to call but if we are not present, please contact your own GP with any health concerns.

Out of hours/Emergency contact:

TLC - DOC is an out-of-hours emergency service run by local GPs, with the support of the HSE.( Carbury Building H2, Tallaght Cross West) The TLC-DOC centre opens from 6pm to 10pm Monday to Friday and on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays 10am to 6pm. Please be aware that there is a fee for this service. If you have a medical card or European Health Service Card (EHIC) it is free of charge. Call 045-848707

Accident & Emergency

Your nearest Accident & Emergency department is based at Tallaght University Hospital.

Ambulance Service
